An OMI Garden
Bishop Orsmond wrote: “The Diocese of Johannesburg owes so much to the Oblates of Mary Immaculate who planted the Faith in this part of the world. One of the gardens so planted is St. Anthony’s parish, Coronationville”
In the early days a priest would come from the then Pro Cathedral in Kerk Streeet or from one of the other more affluent areas and celebrate mass in one of the homes in the area.
The church was established in 1941. The name St. Anthony was suggested by the Bishop as it would be the first St. Anthony church in the diocese.
